Warner Brothers are bringing Harry Potter back to life with a brand-new TV series, which is ready to start filming in this summer. As the casting announcements continue, it has been confirmed that a separate actor will originally portray the expected dumbling. John Lithgo will play the iconic role, as the actor himself revealed in an interview with screen rent.
“It was a complete surprise for me. I got a call about another film during the Sundans Film Festival, and it was not an easy decision. I worry that the role would define the final chapter of my career,” Lithgo accepted.
Despite his initial hesitation, he eventually accepted the proposal. He said, “The people behind this project are incredible, and they are re -paying new attention to Harry Potter. It was a difficult option, but in the end, I said yes. I will probably be around 87 by the final rap party, but I am inside,” he said.
At the age of 79, Lithgo will be the oldest actor to portray Dambaldor. Richard Harris was 70 years old when he first played a role, while Michael Gamman took over 72 after Harris’s death.
There is no stranger for Lithgo major projects. He acted in the Conclave, a film that won several awards in this year’s Golden Globes, and he also voiced Lord Fervad in Shrek.
Initially, the rumors suggested that Mark Reliance was talking to play the role of Dambaldor. Warner Brothers allegedly approached him, but for unknown reasons, the deal never became physical. Instead, Lithgo will bring mythological magicians to life.
The Harry Potter Series is ready to premiere on Max in 2026.
