One of Marvel’s most beloved antiheroes returns for his final tango.
The latest installment of the Venom series, aptly subtitled “The Last Dance,” showcases a spectacular action-packed climax and the recurring humorous banter between the alien symbiote and Eddie. Although many fans secretly hoped that the new Venom might more closely align with its fresh alliance with the MCU, it appears that the trilogy will not join forces with any other well-known heroes.
The initial footage suggests that the third installment will pick up exactly where we left Eddie (Tom Hardy) and Venom in the previous film—hiding out in the tropics after killing serial killer Cletus and leaving Detective Mulligan (Stephen Graham) infected with his own symbiote. Now known as the fearsome Toxin, he is set to be one of the main antagonists of the movie.
However, the trailer reveals that Eddie and his alien counterpart are under siege from all sides. Besides being hunted by a scientific team led by Chiwetel Ejiofor, they must also face an invasion of other dangerous symbiotes from space.
In addition to plenty of action, fans can look forward to more entertaining squabbles between Eddie and Venom, whose unique chemistry provides numerous humorous moments. A positive change from the previous film is the R rating, which promises much juicier scenes. The last installment, subtitled “Let There Be Carnage,” significantly suffered from its PG-13 rating, as the creators were entirely deprived of the opportunity to bring blood to the screen, resulting in a failed attempt at a darker thriller atmosphere.
