A unique film chronicling the rise of a young Donald Trump is set to hit theaters in late October.
Set in 1970s New York, the story follows Trump as he works to step out of his influential father’s shadow. Early in his career, he meets political strategist Roy Cohn, who becomes one of the most pivotal figures in his life.
Cohn, notorious for his role in the conviction of the Rosenbergs, who were sentenced to death for espionage, gained fame during the infamous McCarthy-era investigations into suspected communists. Under Cohn’s influence, Trump learns to acquire power and wealth through manipulation, intimidation, and the media.
The film stars Emmy-nominated Sebastian Stan as Trump, with award-winning actor Jeremy Strong portraying Cohn. Oscar-nominated Maria Bakalova plays Trump’s first wife, Ivana.
Directed by acclaimed Iranian-Danish filmmaker Ali Abbasi, the movie offers what the distributor Bioskop describes as “an unflinching look behind the scenes of American empire and a gripping exploration of the mentor-protégé relationship that ultimately changed the world.”
The movie is scheduled for release in late October.
