
Fans of magic and wizardry have something to cheer about: HBO’s much-anticipated Harry Potter series is officially in the works, and we finally have the scoop on who will be taking on the roles of the beloved Weasley family.
According to Variety, twins Tristan and Gabriel Harland will bring the mischievous Fred and George to life, while Ruari Spooner will step into the shoes of the serious Percy, and Gracie Cochrane has been cast as the spirited Ginny. They’ve already given fans a glimpse of their camaraderie with a joyful group selfie alongside Alastair Stout, who will portray Ron Weasley.
As for Bill and Charlie, their casting details are still under wraps, but HBO has playfully teased fans with a hint: “Charlie is currently in Romania but will be joining us soon,” alluding to his dragon-centric storyline.
The series has grand ambitions every one of J.K. Rowling’s seven books will be transformed into a full season, allowing for a richer dive into the narrative. Filming for the first season is currently taking place at Leavesden Studios in the U.K. and is expected to wrap up by spring 2026. The show is set to debut in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max.

The main trio of young wizards will be portrayed by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron — all selected from a staggering pool of over 30,000 applicants. The cast also includes some well-known names: John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley.
The project is a collaboration between HBO, Brontë Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television, with J.K. Rowling herself serving as executive producer.
