Once known for his charming roles in Notting Hill or Love Actually, Hugh Grant now takes on the terrifying character of Mr. Reed in the upcoming horror film Heretic.
Heretic, set to hit theaters soon, follows Mr. Reed as he ensnares two young guests in a deadly game of cat and mouse. The story centers on two Mormon missionaries, played by Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East, who knock on the door of Reed’s mysterious home. At first, he appears friendly and welcoming, but that quickly changes.
As the young women realize they don’t want to stay in Reed’s house a moment longer, they soon understand there’s no way out. Reed challenges them to answer his riddles or face a test of their faith. The crucial question becomes: after everything, do they still want to live?
“Two young missionaries are forced to prove their faith after knocking on the wrong door, where they’re greeted by the sinister Mr. Reed, who traps them in a deadly game of cat and mouse,” reads the official synopsis.
As Reed suggests, the game may even drive them to wish for death. The film conveys a deep sense of despair, blending horror with psychological terror, making it all the more chilling.
Heretic is set to premiere in the U.S. on November 15, with a likely later release in other regions. Audiences can expect an intense and unique cinematic experience.
