Jeremy Allen White, who’s made quite a name for himself with his award-winning performance in The Bear, is now swapping the heat of the kitchen for the electrifying vibe of rock and roll.
He’s officially on board to play the legendary Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.
This film draws inspiration from Warren Zanes’ book and focuses on a crucial creative period in Springsteen’s life the creation of Nebraska, his hauntingly personal and stripped-back album from 1982. Crafted in the comfort of his home, away from the roaring stadiums and the pressures of mainstream success, this record captures a man in deep self-reflection.
But don’t expect a typical celebrity biopic here. This is a more profound and introspective dive into the psyche of an artist. Both Springsteen and his longtime manager, Jon Landau, are closely involved in the project, which promises to bring authenticity and emotional richness. The film is being produced by 20th Century Studios in partnership with Disney—an unexpected yet fascinating collaboration.
The supporting cast is equally impressive: Jeremy Strong (from Succession and The Apprentice) takes on the role of Landau, Stephen Graham (known for Boiling Point and The Irishman) plays Springsteen’s complex father, and Odessa Young portrays Springsteen’s partner during that time.
The first trailer hints at a gritty atmosphere, visuals that are true to the period, and performances that are sure to tug at your heartstrings.
Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is set to grace theaters on October 24, and early reactions suggest it might just be one of the most captivating character studies of the year.
