The central character in the new season will once again be Gi-hun.

As part of Geeked Week, Netflix has unveiled the trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Squid Game, set to premiere this December. Filming for the new season began in the summer of 2023, and fans will be able to watch it on the streaming platform starting December 26, marking a three-year break since the first season.

The tagline for the new season is “The game is not over.” Gi-hun, the winner of the first season, returns as the main character. In the sequel, he abandons plans to travel to the U.S. and once again competes for the grand cash prize. However, the contestants find themselves in life-threatening situations as they pursue the money.

In addition to the series, a Squid Game reality show was released in November last year. Despite facing heavy criticism, the creators are planning to continue with a second season of the reality show as well.
