New Alien Series Unleashes Brutal Chaos on Earth

The *Alien* universe is heading back to Earth — and it’s bloodier than ever. FX has just released the chilling first trailer for its upcoming sci-fi horror series Alien: Earth, set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on August 13.

Set Two Years Before the Original Film

Taking place in the year 2120 — just two years before the events of Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic — Alien: Earth introduces a planet dominated by five powerful megacorporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold.

The story centers around Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler), a synthetic-human hybrid with the consciousness of a child trapped inside an adult body. Her existence takes a dark turn when a mysterious spacecraft crashes on Earth, unleashing a terrifying alien threat that sparks a full-scale planetary crisis.

Noah Hawley at the Helm

Series creator and showrunner Noah Hawley — known for his work on Legion and Fargo — brings a distinctive narrative and visual style to the iconic franchise. While some visuals appear slightly more “TV-scale” compared to cinematic entries like the upcoming Alien: Romulus, the trailer reveals a production that spares no expense on practical effects and horror-heavy atmosphere.

Fans of the franchise will also notice a return to claustrophobic set pieces, dim corridors, and lurking horrors — a clear nod to the terrifying tone of the original. The mix of sci-fi dystopia and psychological horror looks set to reinvigorate the series in a fresh, but faithful direction.
