Joel, Ellie, and an endless tale of revenge.
It’s finally here! After the finale of Season 1, it was clear that fans were impressed with how HBO, along with writer Craig Mazin and game creator Neil Druckmann, successfully adapted The Last of Us video game for television. Now, we get a glimpse of the first footage, with the premiere expected in the first half of next year. The trailer looks fantastic, teasing not only the stellar performances of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) but also newcomers like Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) and a mysterious character played by veteran actress Catherine O’Hara (Kevin’s mom from Home Alone).
We can also expect plenty of action and everything that made The Last of Us: Part 2 so beloved by those who played it. Fingers crossed that the show lives up to the hype and that this new season raises the bar for storytelling in video game adaptations, just like its predecessor.
Ellie and Joel are returning to our screens soon, and based on the trailer, it looks like we’re in for an emotional rollercoaster. Without giving too much away, it’s already clear that several key events will unfold just as they did in the second game. The central conflict that drives the story—and sparked controversy within the gaming community after the release of Part 2—remains unchanged. This will likely fuel plenty of interesting discussions.
The creators are expected to introduce new plotlines, characters, and perspectives, much like they did with the first game’s adaptation. Fans should also be ready for more, as Season 2 likely won’t be the end of the journey.
Mazin and Druckmann have already hinted that, given the length of the second game, it will probably be split into at least two or three seasons. So, Ellie’s story, which takes center stage in this season, will most likely be spread across multiple parts.
