Filming for the second season of the successful series Wednesday has kicked off in these days. The first season, which brought the story of the gloomy and sarcastic daughter of the Addams family under the direction of Jenny Ortega, became a massive hit. Netflix could thus chalk up another splendid success.
The company also offered us the first video teaser of the sequel, in which it revealed the cast. Tim Burton returns as the director, and the lead role, of course, will once again be portrayed by the excellent Jenna Ortega.
In addition to her, we’ll see returning stars such as Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán. However, several new characters will also join the series, played by Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor. Some guest stars will include Haley Joel Osment, Thandie Newton, Christopher Lloyd, Frances O’Connor, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamaa.
It’s also confirmed that Percy Hynes White, who portrayed Xavier Thorp in the first season, will not be part of the second season. This decision comes after multiple accusations of sexual harassment and assault against him, although the actor denied these allegations, Netflix has decided to end its collaboration with him.
As for the premiere date of the second season of Wednesday, it’s not yet known, but it’s assumed that if all goes according to plan, new episodes could air sometime next year.
