George Lucas, the creative genius behind the beloved Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, is gearing up to unveil his very own museum in Los Angeles in 2026 a place he affectionately calls a “temple of art.”
Officially titled the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, this venue will shine a spotlight on the magic of storytelling through visual artistry.

Inside, you’ll find an impressive array of models, costumes, props, and concept art from Lucas’s iconic film career, showcasing memorable pieces from both Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Plus, the museum will offer a glimpse into his personal art collection, which he has been curating for over five decades.
After years of planning and a previous attempt to establish the museum in Chicago that fell through due to permit challenges Lucas finally broke ground on the Los Angeles site back in 2018. Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is just around the corner.
Visitors can look forward to an extraordinary selection of artwork, featuring rarely seen pieces by renowned artists like Frida Kahlo, Norman Rockwell, Jessie Willcox Smith, and many others. The museum will also pay tribute to comic book legends such as Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, George Herriman, Robert Crumb, and Winsor McCay.
But it’s not just about fine art; this institution will house extensive film archives, including the Historic Lucasfilm Archives and the rare Separate Cinema Archive, making it a must-visit spot for both art aficionados and film buffs alike.
