The highly anticipated second season of Squid Game is set to premiere on Netflix on December 26.

Returning to the deadly competition is Player 456, Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), the winner of the previous game. This time, he plans to dismantle the game from the inside. The trailer teases new contestants competing for a massive cash prize, with challenges that include a tic-tac-toe-like game and a terrifying carousel in an amusement park where participants must stand their ground.

The trailer doesn’t shy away from the show’s signature gore and suspenseful moments. A chilling voiceover states, “We’re not here to harm you. We’re offering you an opportunity.” The series is written and produced by Hwang Dong-hyuk, who has confirmed that Squid Game will conclude with a third and final season.

“I believe this story has expressed everything I wanted to convey through Squid Game and the character of Gi-hun. I realized there’s no need for further continuation,” Hwang told The Hollywood Reporter. He also hinted that the second season will be “simply insane.”
